SERVICES FOR BOATS & YACHTS

A boat creates very different technical, administrative and logistical needs.

Fontnautic coordinates services related to boat maintenance, repairs, cleaning, documentation, surveys, valuations and transport, working with specialists suited to each job.

Our value is not pretending to do every trade ourselves. It is understanding what the boat needs, separating priorities from optional work, finding the right professional and keeping the job organised when we are part of the process.

TECHNICAL SERVICE & COORDINATION

Solving a job properly starts with identifying what the boat actually needs.

Maintenance, repairs, surveys and the rest of our services are planned around the boat, its condition, its location and the purpose of the work.

01

BOAT MAINTENANCE

Boat maintenance and repairs.

Maintaining a boat involves far more than an annual engine service. Engines, mechanical systems, electrics, electronics, underwater gear and onboard systems all require different checks and a coherent maintenance plan.

We can coordinate both preventive boat maintenance and repairs when the boat has a fault, a technical issue or outstanding work before a season, a sale or a handover.

Marine engines & mechanical systems

Servicing, cooling, fuel, transmissions, consumables, diagnostics and repair coordination.

Marine electrical & electronics

Batteries, chargers, alternators, switchboards, instrumentation, navigation and installed equipment.

Hull, underwater gear & boatyard work

Antifouling, anodes, propellers, shafts, sterndrives, seacocks, inspections and work ashore.

Preventive maintenance

Planning before the season reduces breakdowns, urgent work and deferred maintenance.

02

BOAT CLEANING

Boat cleaning and yacht detailing.

Professional boat cleaning combines presentation with material care. Salt, gelcoat, teak, stainless steel, upholstery and interiors all need different products, techniques and frequencies.

The service may be regular care, seasonal preparation, boat cleaning and yacht detailing before a sale, or a full clean before handover.

Hull & gelcoat

Washing, desalting, hull cleaning, polishing and protection depending on condition and finish.

Teak & stainless steel

Cleaning and care without unnecessarily aggressive treatments that shorten material life.

Interiors & upholstery

Surfaces, textiles, cabins, heads, galley and general preparation of the boat.

Preparation for sale or handover

Detailing and presentation for photography, viewings, delivery or the start of the season.

BOAT REGISTRATION & YACHT DOCUMENTATION

Boat registration, ownership and yacht documentation.

A transaction may require transfer of ownership, registration, flagging, deletion from a registry, tax documentation, technical papers or coordination with several authorities.

Boat registration and yacht documentation deserve the same attention as the vessel itself: what exists, what is missing, what needs updating and which formalities apply to the specific transaction.

Ownership & sale

Contracts, transfer of ownership, registry documents and coordination of the file.

Registration & flag

Registration, flagging, change of flag and deletion from registry where required.

Import & export

Proof of origin, tax matters, registry steps and documentation for international transactions.

Yacht and boat documentation

Administrative and technical review to identify what paperwork exists and what remains outstanding.

BOAT TRANSPORT

Boat transport by road in Spain and Europe.

Road transport for boats requires accurate dimensions, the right vehicle, route planning, permits, loading, unloading and coordination with marinas or boatyards.

Boat transport by road is assessed from the vessel's dimensions and weight through to access at origin and destination, lifting equipment, route restrictions and administrative requirements.

Dimensions & feasibility

Length, beam, overall height, weight and transport configuration determine vehicle, route and permits.

Trailer, platform or low-loader

The transport equipment is selected according to dimensions, hull structure and journey.

Loading & unloading

Coordination of cranes, travel lifts, supports and access at origin and destination.

Spain & Europe

Domestic and international routes with different requirements depending on dimensions and countries crossed.

PRE-PURCHASE BOAT SURVEY

Boat inspection and pre-purchase marine survey.

A survey is intended to establish the real condition of the boat before a decision is made. Depending on scope, it may include hull, machinery, systems, documentation, sea trial and haul-out.

The aim is to replace impressions with evidence: identify defects, outstanding work, risk indicators and items worth checking before completing a purchase.

06

BOAT VALUATION

Boat valuation and marine survey.

A boat's value should be reasoned from market evidence, condition, equipment, history, comparable listings and the purpose of the valuation.

A valuation may be required for a sale, insurance, asset records, financing or another situation where the figure needs a defensible basis.

07

YACHT ADVISORY

Yacht advisory for buying, selling and better decisions.

Comparing boats, understanding ownership costs, preparing a negotiation or asking for a second opinion are different decisions, but they belong to the same advisory process.

We can help you organise alternatives and reduce uncertainty before committing to a purchase, a sale or significant work on the boat.

YACHT DELIVERY BY SEA

Yacht delivery and boat transport by sea.

When a yacht or boat needs to move under its own power or as cargo, the right option depends on distance, condition, range, crew, weather, insurance and cost.

Depending on the operation, the move may be a yacht delivery with professional skipper and crew, a partial sea passage, or specialist marine transport aboard a cargo vessel or yacht carrier.

THE FONTNAUTIC METHOD

The right specialist matters more than having one answer for everything.

An engine fault, registry deletion, pre-purchase survey, teak cleaning or road transport all require different knowledge, equipment and professionals.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Which service do you need for the problem in front of you?

Does a boat repair fall under maintenance?

In most cases, yes. Maintenance includes preventive care as well as coordination of mechanical, electrical, electronic or systems repairs when the work belongs within that service.

Are a marine survey and a valuation the same thing?

Not necessarily. A survey or inspection is mainly concerned with the boat's technical condition; a valuation may be focused on establishing and justifying a market value for a specific purpose.

Can yacht documentation include flag changes and transfer of ownership?

Yes, where the transaction requires it. It may also include registration, registry deletion and other administrative steps relating to the vessel.

Are road transport and yacht delivery by sea different services?

Yes. Road transport depends on dimensions, vehicle, route, permits and loading; sea delivery depends on navigation, crew, range, weather or moving the yacht as cargo.
