SINCE 1990
The sea has been part of our story since long before the business existed.
Fontnautic is a family yacht brokerage that has handled boat sales since 1990 and has been connected to the sea for more than five generations.
Buyers and owners who want to know who is behind a transaction before entrusting the purchase or sale of a boat.

OUR STORY
After decades watching boats change hands, we have learned that trust begins long before a contract is signed.
It starts when the information is clear, when the boat is understood, when difficult questions are answered and when someone behind the transaction is prepared to remain involved until the end.
Fontnautic is a family-run marine business, connected to the sea for more than five generations and professionally dedicated to buying and selling boats since 1990.
Our story did not begin with a short-lived opportunity or a digital platform. It began with a genuine relationship with the sea, with boats and with the people who enjoy them, maintain them, buy them and sell them. Over the decades we have watched designs, engines, technologies, markets and buying habits change; but one thing has not changed: a good transaction still depends on trust, sound judgement and the right information.
Working around boats for so many years has taught us to look beyond a specification sheet. Two boats of the same model and year can be two completely different purchases. Service history, the way the engine room has been maintained, the quality of an installation, invoices, documentation, previous owners or even the way someone talks about the boat can tell you a great deal about a particular example.
That is why we see yachting as a profession learned over years of direct contact with boats. That experience is the foundation on which we have built Fontnautic.
A yacht broker can limit the job to publishing an advert and waiting for the phone to ring. We see the work differently.
When we represent a boat, we want to understand what we are offering: its condition, equipment, relevant maintenance, available documentation, the points that make it special and also anything a buyer should know before travelling to view it. Attractive presentation matters, but credibility matters much more.
Likewise, when we help someone buy a boat, our aim is not to push a decision. It is to help make that decision with better information. We analyse the boat, the market context and the buyer’s real needs, coordinate viewings, sea trials, inspections or surveys where required, and support the documentation process through to closing.
We do not believe in selling for the sake of selling. We believe in transactions that make sense for both parties.
Trust is not earned by saying that everything is perfect. It is earned by explaining clearly what is actually there.
If a boat stands out because of its maintenance, history or a significant investment in refit work, we want that to be demonstrable. If there is an aspect that deserves further review, we prefer to know about it and explain it. In a market where a repair can represent thousands or tens of thousands of euros, hiding information is not a sales strategy: it is simply moving a problem into the future.
Transparency is therefore part of our positioning. We want a buyer to be able to call and feel that there is someone behind the listing who knows the boat, and an owner to be able to trust that their boat will be presented professionally without turning it into an impossible promise.
Since 1990 we have grown alongside the used and pre-owned boat market, working with owners, buyers, shipyards, mechanics, surveyors, transport companies and specialist professionals. That journey has allowed us to exceed 350 boats sold and, above all, to accumulate something that cannot be accelerated: real experience.
Experience is not useful only for knowing brands or models. It helps identify when a price makes sense, when maintenance genuinely adds value, which questions need to be asked, which documents should be reviewed, when a sea trial is worthwhile and when a purchase needs an independent inspection before moving forward.
That judgement is particularly important with used boats, where actual condition may matter far more than build year or engine hours.
No broker should pretend to be a mechanic, surveyor, lawyer, transport specialist and technician all at the same time. That is why we work with a network of qualified professionals, specialists and authorised service centres to coordinate each part of the process whenever necessary.
We can support a transaction with technical advice, maintenance, servicing, inspections, surveys, boat preparation, documentation, transport or delivery. Our role is to maintain an overall view of the transaction and coordinate the different pieces so the client does not have to solve every problem separately.
The yachting market no longer ends at the marina where the boat is berthed. Buyers and owners move between countries, flags and different markets. Fontnautic works with boats and clients in Spain and across Europe and uses a national and international marketing network to give visibility to the boats we represent.
This requires particular attention to information, documentation and communication. A buyer travelling hundreds or thousands of kilometres should be able to understand why a boat is worth their time before arranging a viewing.
A yacht transaction is not always linear. A mechanical issue, a documentation question, a pending repair, a complex negotiation or a change in timing may appear. Those are precisely the moments when it is most valuable to have someone who knows the transaction and remains involved.
Our aim is for the client not to feel that they have simply bought an advert, but that they have had a point of contact throughout the process. Personal attention and follow-up are as much a part of the service as marketing the boat itself.
We remain a family business with roots in the marine sector, but we work with tools, presentation and marketing adapted to today’s market. We want to combine the best of both worlds: experience accumulated over generations with a modern, clear and demanding way of presenting and managing boats.
We do not aim to be the portal with the most boats. We aim for every boat we represent to be explained with judgement, for every owner to know how we are working on their sale, and for every buyer to have enough information to make a better decision.
Every boat has a story. Our job is to understand it, explain it and help you make the best possible decision.
OUR POSITIONING
“We do not want to convince you that a boat is perfect. We want you to have enough information to know whether it is the right boat.”
HOW WE WORK
Buying or selling a boat involves much more than publishing a price. We organise the information and the transaction so that every decision has context.
Understand the boat, its history, maintenance, documentation, equipment and actual situation before presenting it.
Create a clear listing and commercial presentation that shows the boat rigorously, without hiding what matters or filling the page with promises.
Manage enquiries, answer questions and organise viewings with buyers who genuinely fit the boat and the transaction.
Coordinate negotiation, sea trial, inspections, documentation, handover or delivery until the transaction is resolved.
WHAT DEFINES US
A boat needs to be understood before it can be valued. We analyse context, condition, history and the market before recommending a decision.
We would rather explain a weak point than discover it late. Trust begins when buyer and owner both have clear information.
From the first conversation through documentation, sea trial, handover or delivery. One continuous point of contact throughout the transaction.
REAL TRUST
There is no better branding than a transaction handled well. These reviews were already part of Fontnautic’s historic website.
